10 January 2012 HRH the Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa To inaugurate Bahrain's 38th Fine Arts Exhibition

“Under the patronage of H.R.H, Shaikh Khalifa Bin Salman Al-Khalifa, " Manama as the Capital of Culture", in  2012 opening ceremony started yesterday under the slogan " Art". H.R.H inaugurated the Annual Fine Arts Exhibition at Bahrain National Museum, as part of His Highness's strong support for arts and keenness to discover new talents and achievements made in Fine Arts, locally and from the Arab world and His Highness's continuous encouragement for creative fine arts since the beginning of this exhibition 38 years ago.”

Taking the opportunity, H.E Shaikha Mai Bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, Minister of Culture, expressed her profound gratitude and sincere thanks to H.R.H, Shaikh Khalifa Bin Salman Al-Khalifa, Prime Minister, for his constant interest in the fine arts movement in the Kingdom of Bahrain. She added that this year's version of the exhibition is very special and unique, since it launches and inaugurates the series of events celebrating Manama as the Capital of Arab Culture in 2012, and it highlights the strenuous efforts deployed by the Ministry of Culture to promote Bahrain locally, in the Arab world and internationally.

H.E Shaikha Mai stressed the importance of the success of this year's events and the efforts of people interested in culture and arts, which stems from our sense of national duty towards Bahrain. She added that our country deserves the sacrifices every one of us is making, through intellectual movements, struggle, art, culture and heritage preservation, pointing out that culture is a universal language that can transcend differences and obstacles.

This year's 38th session of the exhibition coincides with another artistic topic shedding lights on the topic of "Women's issues", the interaction of deep art formation theme with creative masterpieces of more than 54 artists from different generations, who presented around 90 works of fine arts with mixed interpretations and visions.

As part of the continuous support for fine arts and the strategy to create streaming art movements, this exhibition will, as usual, consecrate the annual "Al-Dana Prize" for the best creative masterpieces. The special arbitration committee will be presided by H.E Shaikh Rachid Bin Khalifa al-Khalifa (Ministry of Interior's Undersecretary for Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs), and membership of Mrs. Salwa Miqdadi, Head of the Emirates Foundation's Arts and Culture Programme, Mr. James Kosh, from Bayeler Foundation, (Promotion Director at Bayeler Arts Foundation), Mr. Georges Ranunkel and Geofrey de Farncony, from Paris Modern Art Exhibition. The winner will be awarded Al-Dana first prize, in addition to four appreciation awards creatively designed by Bahraini artist, Khaled al-Farhan.

  In addition, Bahrain 5th International Sculpture Symposium organized by the Ministry of Culture will gather around Arab16 artists, who displayed their works made on the 19th December 2011. These artists centered their subjects on women's issues, the different interpretations of approaching this topic artistically.

 At the same time, an exhibition organized by the Arab World Institute of Paris, under the slogan “Approach of Reality and the Color of the Dream”, will be displayed reflecting the experiences of more than one hundred artists in different art interpretations from many Arab countries. The exhibition will shed lights on five topics in relation with "formation" theme: "the Message and the Verse"," on Abstraction", "the Mental Scene", What the Body Says"  and lastly " the Wonderful and Imaginary". This visit comes as part of the Arab World Institute tour in a number of world cities to spread the visual artistic culture.

It is worth mentioning that this month's theme (" Formation"), is rich with many unique art activities, hosting    friendly country art experience on the 25th of January, through a Jordan Modern Art exhibition, displaying art works of a number of Jordanian artists joining the artistic interpretations modeled by the Royal Society of Fine Arts. The Opening ceremony of exhibition, on the following day, will be inaugurated by a lecture given by Princess Wajdan Ali, president of the Society of Fine Arts, who will talk about diplomacy and fine arts and the artistic role of the association.
