21 January 2012 H.E Minister of Culture receives the Japanese Ambassador

Culture Minister Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa received in her office at Bahrain National Museum today newly-appointed Japanese Ambassador to Bahrain Shigeki Sumi.

During the meeting, H.E Shaikha Mai Bint Mohammed Al-Khalifa  hailed strong bilateral cooperation mainly in the cultural field pointing out that many Japanese cultural and art events had been scheduled as part of "Manama the Capital of Arab Culture" programme. These events include a Japanese fashion show as part of "Design" theme month celebrations and another one concerning the Japanese architecture in the "Architecture" theme month celebrations to be held on 7-8 February 2012.

H.E wished the new ambassador every success in his diplomatic duties and in his future endeavor and looked forward to establishing good cultural relationship with Japan. In his turn, Ambassador Shigeki Sumi stressed the role of culture in promoting increased understanding between Japan and Bahrain, renowned for its unique openness and diversity.
