26 March 2012 Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa signed a cooperation and cultural exchange agreement between the Ministry of Culture and the Chinese Ministry of Culture

Within the framework of the cultural exchange between the Kingdom of Bahrain and other countries and its openness in a constant dialogue with other cultures and civilizations, the Minister of Culture Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa signed a cooperation and cultural exchange agreement between the Ministry of Culture and the Chinese Ministry of Culture. The agreement was signed by the Chinese deputy Minister of Culture, Mr. Young Tchi, during his visit to Bahrain to attend the Chinese Days events, which are being organized by the Ministry of Culture in cooperation with the Chinese embassy as part of the 7th Spring of Culture activities.

The Minister of Culture affirmed that the cultural exchange and openness to other cultures has become vital in an age where all boundaries among countries had been removed and it was important for continued intellectual and cultural connection among nations.

For his part, Mr. Young Tchi,  the Chinese deputy Minister of Culture praised the role of the Bahraini civilization in history and the exceptional cultural movement, which he has witnessed during his visit while Manama celebrates its events as the Capital of Arab Culture in 2012. He also praised the efforts deployed by the Ministry to support culture events, protect archaeology and heritage monuments and preserve the national identity, affirming that the new agreement signed between both parties will consolidate cultural, intellectual and art relations between the two countries.
