Culture Minister Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa met today with the Tourism Supreme Council’s (TSC) members at Bahrain National Museum  to discuss means of promoting tourism in the Kingdom of Bahrain. H.E informed the council members about the Cabinet’s approval of an Islamic Development Bank loan, which was proposed by the Arab Tourism Organization meeting in Charm-el-Sheik to support tourism sector in Arab countries affected by the current events.

The council meeting focused on the Ministry's request to benefit from the full service charges amounting to 5% in order to develop tourism infrastructure and support tourism services and the recommendations to hire a company to audit tourism facilities’ financial reports and this five per cent tourism services fee.

The council discussed also World Tourism Day celebrations on September 27, under the slogan (Tourism is an enrichment), and the preparations to host Manama Capital of Arab Tourism 2013, recommending a detailed comprehensive proposal to be presented for the next meeting.

Minister of Culture Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa discussed with the members of the Tourism Council the program of Bahrain Summer, which will launch on the 14th of June, and will continue for a full month, under the banner “Manama, the City of Joy”. The festival is part of Manama as the Capital of Arab 2012 Culture celebrations. She confirmed that this year’s festival will be rich with a variety of new activities and many musical, cultural, educational and entertaining evenings and programs to suit the Bahraini, Gulf and Arab families, of residents and visitors of all ages.

H.E also invited members to attend Tylos Expo that transferred from Manama to State Hermitage Museum,  San Petersburg, Russia next July, date of the official opening ceremony. The meeting was an opportunity to hear the proposal of setting a new cultural and tourist Satellite TV and they all agreed to discuss it in the next meeting.

H.E Shaikha Mai welcomed Colonel Abdurrahman Al-Sinan, the Council's members, Mr. Hameed Yousif Rhama, Mr. Faouzi Kanoo, Mr. Abdul Nabi Al Dailami, Mr. Abdulrahim Al-Mahmood and Mr. Abdurrahman Yousif Fakhro. The meeting was attended Dr. Hiba Abdulaziz, and the ministry's legal adviser, Mr. Mohammed Moosa Jabara.
