31 May 2012 TAKREEM International Jury Convenes Reunion ..

Minister of Culture Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa participated in meetings of the International Jury for the Takreem (honour) initiative of Arab achievements held in Paris last week. The jury is assigned to select top 10 successful Arab personalities. Following a thorough examination of the finalists’ files, the International Jury convened May 30 in Paris to agree upon who the winners should be in the following fields: Reinforcement of Peace,  Philanthropy and Charitable Services, Environmental Development and Sustainability, Scientific and Technological Achievement, Innovation in Education, Cultural Excellence, Arab Woman of the Year Award, Young Entrepreneurship, Outstanding Corporate Leadership and Exceptional International Contribution to Arab Society.

“The jury has adopted certain measurements to select the winning personalities from a long list of candidates. This initiative aims to promote Arab excellence in various areas and Arab youth to promote the good Arab image in the world,” Shaikha Mai said.

This meeting was chaired by the former U.S. Ambassador in Lebanon, Vincent Battle.

The International Jury this year included HM Queen Noor Al-Hussein, HE Lakhdar Brahimi, HE Sheikha Mai Khalifa, HE André Azoulay, HE Dr. Leila Sharaf, Dr. Mohamed El Baradei, Amin Maalouf, Carlos Ghosn, Marc Levy, Nouha Alhegelan and Raja Sidawi.
