Amazing Start to Bahrain Summer Festival

The 2013 Bahrain Summer Festival kicked off yesterday (Sunday August 18th) in a big way with a sell-out concert “A Message of Love and Peace” by the renowned singer Magida El-Roumi at the 1,001 seat Bahrain National Theater.

The capacity crowd cheered and sang along with the Lebanese living legend as she gave a heartfelt performance of some of her most well-known songs which focus on positive universal themes such as love, peace, and harmony, and established her as a true international ambassador of the Arab World.

In addition, large crowds assembled at the Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Center (BIECC) to witness the official opening of Nakhool City by the Minister of Culture Her Excellency Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa. The city will be open daily from 10 am – to 4 pm throughout the festival, and boasts multi-cultural activities and workshops for all ages in the accompaniment of the festival’s beloved mascot Nakhool and his partner Nakhoola.

Organised by the Ministry of Culture under the slogan “A Journey of Joy”, the popular annual event takes place this year during the leisure tourism season of the ministry’s Manama Capital of Arab Tourism 2013 program.

The festival will run from August 18 – September 9, and features a dazzling lineup of cultural, artistic, and musical shows. Tickets for all the shows are available at Virgin Megastore in Bahrain City Center. The next shows will be “Reflection of Thais” on August 20th at the Cultural Hall and “Scooby Doo! Live” from August 21 – 25 at the BIECC.
