Ministry of Culture participates at Finnish Islam -Expo

The Islamic Council of Finland (ICF) organizes Islam-Expo 3 event on From November 22th to 24th 2013. The theme for Islam Expo 3 is Pluralistic Society: How Islam Can Contribute? The Prime Minister of Finland, Mr. Jyrki Katainen opened the exhibition. The Ministry of Culture presented a number of publications, prints, booklets and a documentary film on Bahrain’s history.

H.E Shaikha Mai Bint Mohammad Al-Khalifa, Minister of Culture, presented the Finish prime “ World Heritage in the Arad Countries”, a book that tries to erase borders and bring East and West even closer through heritage, given that Finland is also a World Heritage Committee member state. The Ministry of Culture's published book documenting world heritage in the Arab countries has swooped a prestigious award in Europe. Titled ‘World Heritage in the Arab Countries”, the publication has been awarded the Best Book Prize2012, annually awarded in Europe, following a fierce competition.

Islam Expo 3 is a three-days event, and so far the largest event exhibiting Islam and Islamic culture arranged by Muslims in Finland. The aim of the event is to also promote the co-existence and dialogue of different cultures and religions in Finland. Islam Expo 3 is built around a diverse program with foreign speakers, panel discussions, workshops, cultural program and children’s program presented on two stages. The event’s fair area holds exhibitions, and has different organizations and companies presenting their activities and selling their products. The event, now organized for the third time, has grown into a three-day event and is hoped to attract a bigger audience than the previous ones.


The Main organizer of the event is the Islamic Council of Finland, the umbrella organization for Finnish Islamic organizations. The Expo programme has something to offer for everyone. There are interesting guest speakers from Finland and abroad, panel discussions, cultural programme, children´s programme, islamic music and themes introducing different Muslim cultures. During the Expo, it is also possible to attend short courses in, for instance, islamic art or courses designed for children. In the lively exhibition area, there are organizations and companies presenting their stands and different exhibitions to be seen.


The aim of this expo is to introduce Islam to Europeans and to contemplate Islamic values, as advocated by many lectures who came from all over the world. The exhibition programme also included discussions, forums, photo expo, documentaries, children programs and audio Islamic materials.
