Bahrain’s hotels occupancy rate reaches 87% During F1 Grand Prix

Tourism Ministry Assistant Undersecretary for Tourism Affairs Shaikh Khalid bin Humood Al Khalifa congratulated His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa the Prime Minister,  and, HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister on the occasion of the dazzling success achieved by the Bahrain Gulf Air Grand Prix for Formula One in the period April 4-6 and its contribution in boosting Bahrain’s economy.

The Assistant Undersecretary for Tourism announced that there has been an increase in five-star hotels occupancy rate during the Formula One period from 72.6% last year to 87% this year with an increase of 14.4%. Also, four-star hotels occupancy rate increased from 70.7% last year to 86% this year with an increase of 15.3%. The overall average rate of hotels occupancy was in the range of 15.4%.

H.E Shaikh Humood said that the Ministry pays much heed to sports tourism and has allocated a full chapter for it during the year of Manama as the Capital of Arab Tourism. H.E .EH.Shaikh Khalid bin Humood Al-Khalifa stressed Bahrain’s keen interest in promoting cultural and sports event,   as Manama is being celebrated as Asian Tourism City 2014. Bahrain’s strong cultural and tourism infrastructures have made its fame as the world  tourists’ attraction force.  F1 Grand Prix, the  Annual Heritage Festival, which is annually held under the Patronage of His Majesty king Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa, and  the various year-long series of cultural events, such as the 16th International Bahrain Book Fair, the official inauguration of the Tree of Life Visitor Centre and will put Bahrain on the world’s most attracting and welcoming destinations.
