Ministry of Culture Launches Transfer of Knowledge Project;

In a move aimed to exchange knowledge and to enrich the Arabic library with knowledge and humanities, the Ministry of Culture has launched the Transfer of Knowledge project, which aims to translate into Arabic a set of international books from the 20th and 21st centuries. The meeting of the Project’s Consulting Committee was held on June 14th 2014 at the Diplomat Hotel, Manama.

Dr. Tahar Labib, who heading this committee said, “ H.E Shaikha Mai Bint Mohammad Al-Khalifa, the Minister of Culture has adopted the knowledge transfer project. The actual Arab world cultural scene, and that of Bahrain in particular, needs this kind of projects to cover the shortage in the detailed quality knowledge”. Dr. Labib is Former professor of Sociology in the Faculty of Tunis, and is currently, the General Director of the Arab Organization for Translation. He has published in Arabic and French a collection of researches and articles, mostly about culture and intellectuals, social society and the relation to the other.

The project Advisory Committee comprises a group of renowned experts from Bahrain, Tunisia, Syria, Hungary, Lebanon, Belgium and France, who will discuss over two days 50 books and dictionaries to develop a list of books to be translated into Arabic in the fields of social sciences, art, history, philosophy, communication technology and literary criticism.
