Art Market Showcases Works of Talented Young Artists on the 13th of March

Art Market is set to commence on Thursday (March 13, 2014) at Bab Al-Bahrain. Now in its third edition, the popular annual event coincides this year with the 9th annual Spring of Culture and the “Year of the Arts”, a year-long lineup of events celebrating arts, both organized by the Ministry of Culture.

The event, held in partnership with the Bahrain Real Estate Development Company (Edamah), provides a space for young artists to showcase their innovations. Their creations include everything from paintings, to handicrafts, furniture, accessories, graphic art, sculptures, photographs, and more.

Accompanying the market is a wide variety of family-friendly activities and musical shows, whereby visitors of all ages can enjoy perusing the exhibited artworks while also enjoying the various cultural and musical shows, performed by the likes of the Youth Music Band and Mohammed bin Faris Folk Band. Moreover, Art Market also provides a space for the visitors to draw and create their own artworks under the guidance of prominent artists.

In conjunction, a series of free art workshops will be conducted for the duration of the market. For this month’s workshop, the focus will be on creating mosaics, an art form widely considered to be among the most precise and beautiful ever created.

Art Market is held on the weekend of each month until the end of the end of the current year 2014. The event is part of a full schedule of cultural and tourism events organized by the Ministry of Culture celebrating Manama’s selection as Capital of Asian Tourism 2014.
