Assistant Undersecretary for Tourism Receives Chinese Ambassador

In order to strengthen and reinforce cultural relations and traditional friendly relations between the kingdom of Bahrain and People's Republic of China, Assistant Undersecretary for tourism, H.E Shaikh Khalid bin Humood Al Khalifa, received the Chinese Ambassador to Bahrain, H.E Lee Xin. They discussed ways of bolstering bilateral cooperation in the tourism field and the ongoing preparations to mark the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between both countries through a memorandum of understanding signed by both countries on the occasion which coincides with choosing Manama as "Capital of Asian Tourism 2014".

During the meeting, both sides discussed means of developing diplomatic and tourism cooperation between China and Bahrain and encourage tourism investment between the two countries during 2014, given that Manama was selected Asian Tourism City 2014. Bahrain is living the dream of embracing this year-long event to show the whole world its historic, social and universal values to visitors and tourists alike, H.E argued.

On his part, the Chinese ambassador congratulated H.E Shaikh Khalid bin Humood Al Khalifa for choosing Manama as "Capital of Asian Tourism 2014", and lauded the positive outcome of HM the King's historic visit to China, stressing his country's keenness to boost cultural relations with the Bahraini people.He also praised Shaikha Mai's efforts in promoting culture in Bahrain and conveyed to her the greetings of the Chinese Minister of Culture who voiced the President's wish to further cement bilateral cultural ties through a Memorandum of Understanding being prepared to bolster tourism exchange between both countries.

They also discussed a project plan to include Bahrain as a tourist destinations for Chinese, by drafting a plan to facilitate regulations and procedures aiming at developing cooperation between travel agencies in both countries, which will facilitate the flow of Chinese tourists to Bahrain and vice versa. Preparations to celebrate to celebrate - 25 years of diplomatic relations between Bahrain and China, crowned by signing a Memorandum of Understanding, which coincides with Manama selected as Asian Tourism City 2014, have also been discussed.
