During an amazing romantic evening, Bahrain National Theater celebrated its 5th anniversary,  on  12th November 2017, by hosting  an amazing world-class ballet concert show of Romeo & Juliet, a unique Dance Open Festival production, a Russian Ballet Company with the UK ballet star soloists from the Royal Ballet theatre of London.

Speaking for the occasion, H.E said “ This great cultural icon, baptized as window open onto the wider world, was built and sponsored by and under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, may God protect him, the first generous supporter of culture and who inspires us to promote Bahrain’s historical  bright image”. H.E added saying “ In celebration of the 5th anniversary of Bahrain National Theater, I would like to stress the importance of enhancing the cultural infrastructure through the participation of all  parties concerned, and the need to share the burden so that culture remains accessible and widespread throughout all sectors and all social categories”.
H.E argued that this prominent world-class symbol is another achievement made by Bahrain and is part of a modern cultural infrastructure that combines cutting-edge technology to host world music and ballet shows and genuine beautiful updated  architectural design. H.E also said that the during the last five years, the National Theater The Bahrain National Theater hosted a number of global performances from some of the world’s foremost artists.
Worth to mention that, Bahrain National Theater sponsored and inaugurated in November 2012 under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa is considered the crowning achievement in the Kingdom’s longstanding efforts to enrich and develop local culture. Built as part of Invest in Culture initiative, launched by H.E Shaikha Mai Bint Mohammad Al-Khalifa ten years ago, this cultural icon has been a lighthouse for world’s famous ballet and music shows.
The groundbreaking world famous ballet, Romeo and Juliet, graced  the Kingdom of Bahrain’s National Theatre stage coinciding its 5th Anniversary- with the first full-length ballet choreographed by Sir Kenneth MacMillan. This performance won him a place of honor in the history of world choreography. The ballet show consisted  of 3 acts. The original UK-Russian work of art, Shakespeare’s eternal love story with wonderful music by the Great Russian composer Prokofiev, will be presented by immensely passionate and talented English and Russian dancers, dressed in magnificent costumes created by Italian designers. This unfortunate yet beautiful story is set against a wonderful evocation of 16th Century Verona, Italy, and includes a bustling marketplace that erupts into a violent sword fight, and a lavish ball held in an elegant mansion.
Ballet Romeo and Juliet is a lyrical story of the tragic Veronese lovers with music composed by Sergei Sergeyevich Prokofiev which has been an uninterrupted inspiration to many generations of choreographers and directors since its creation in 1938. This famous ballet work was created after Shakespeare’s drama Romeo and Juliet, one of the loveliest, most tragic and mostly read stories of world literature that has been serving as an inexhaustible well of inspiration for more than four centuries to authors in various artistic areas. Many composers have written music for ballet or opera on the theme of the unhappy lovers who at the beginning of their lives tragically end them because of the conflict between their families, the Capulets and the Montagues
