H.E Shaikha Mai Receives Emirati Minister of Culture,  Her Excellency Noora Al Kaabi

H.E Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, President of Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA), as part of her vision to enhance relations between Bahrain and other friendly nations, received on 25 February 2018, Her Excellency Noura bint Mohammed Al Kaabi, Emirati Minister of Culture and Knowledge. They discussed ways of bolstering bilateral cooperation in the cultural field.

H.E lauded the special relationship between Bahrain and the UAE, praising the positive role played by the UAE at the Arab and international levels, praising strong historic fraternal relations between Bahrain and the UAE. H.E described bilateral ties as a model of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) unity based on mutual respect and common denominators including religion, language, kinship, common destiny and unwavering commitment to protecting the security of the Arabian Gulf and ensuring its progress and prosperity, especially Muharraq is being cleared tis year as the Capital of Islamic Culture 2018.

Her Excellency Noura bint Mohammed Al Kaabi, also lauded Bahrain’s rich cultural scene and deeply-rooted history, praising BACA’s efforts to invigorate the cultural momentum in the kingdom, and consolidate cultural exchange between both sides, and valuing high the strong historic fraternal relations between Bahrain and the UAE. Emirati Minister of Culture expressed her constant readiness to cooperate with BACA and contribute in the cultural and tourist development in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The official visit program included a guided tour on honour of H.E UAE minister to Bahrain National Museum and its halls which contain artefacts depicting Bahrain’s history of more than 4000 years. Emirati Minister of Cultujre also visited the current exhibitions hosted by Bahrain National Museum, such as “Al-Fann: Art from the Islamic Civilization from The al-Sabah Collection”, property of Dar Al Athar Al Islamiyyah, Kuwait, and “Between Muharraq and Seville: A Bolza-Bu Saad Dialogue” Exhibition, featuring a collaboration between Bahraini artist Ebrahim Bu Saad and Orientalist artist based Elisabeth Bolza in Spain. H.E Al-Kaabi also was briefed on Pearling : Testimony of an Island Economy, a UNESCO’s World Heritage List project to be inaugurated by BACA next November.

The UAE minister also visited the Arab Regional Centre for World Heritage and was informed about its work program, its efforts for the conservation of the Arab heritage, noting Bahrain's leading role in preserving Arab and international heritage by hosting the ARC-WH headquarters, its many achievements in terms of following up the maintenance of Arab natural heritage sites and improving the performance of the managements of Arab competent institutions, in cooperation with global heritage and culture institutions.
