Celebrating the 6th Anniversary of Bahrain National Theater, H.E : The Theater reflects the Kingdom’s efforts to reach out and meet other universal cultures

Bahrain National Theater is considered the crowning achievement in the Kingdom’s longstanding efforts to enrich and develop local culture for many decades. On 12 November 2018, the theater celebrated its 6th Anniversary, which coincided with Bahrain’s Authority for Culture & Antiquities’ celebrations of Muharraq as the Capital of Islamic Culture 2018 for a whole year around.

Speaking for the occasion, H.E said “Bahrain National Theater reflects the Kingdom’s efforts to reach out and meet other civilizations and culture, building bridges of communication with the whole world”. H.E added saying “ This great cultural icon, with greed cultural deeds and baptized as window open onto the wider world, was built and sponsored by and under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, may God protect him, the first generous supporter of culture and who inspires us to promote Bahrain’s historical bright image”. H.E confirmed her commitment to enhance the cultural infrastructure through the participation of all parties concerned, and the need to share the burden so that culture remains accessible and widespread throughout all sectors and all social categories.

H.E argued also that the National Theater has always been at the heart of the culture scene in Bahrain, attracting world’s major shows and ballets, noting that this prominent world-class symbol is another achievement made by Bahrain and is part of a modern cultural infrastructure that combines cutting-edge technology to host world music and ballet shows and genuine beautiful updated architectural design. H.E also said that the during the last six years, the National Theater The Bahrain National Theater hosted a number of global performances from some of the world’s foremost artists.

Worth to mention that, Bahrain National Theater sponsored and inaugurated in November 2012 under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa is considered the crowning achievement in the Kingdom’s longstanding efforts to enrich and develop local culture. Built as part of Invest in Culture initiative, launched by H.E Shaikha Mai Bint Mohammad Al-Khalifa ten years ago, this cultural icon has been a lighthouse for world’s famous ballet and music shows.

Indeed, BACA plans to end the festivities celebrating Muharraq as the Capital of Islamic Culture 2018, by a specially commissioned project more than a year in the making to mark the closing ceremony of Muharraq – Capital of Islamic Culture 2018,; a Tale from Muharraq is a musical that presents the unique heritage and culture of Bahrain as seen through the prism of award- winning international innovators. Artistic Director Jose Antonio Ruiz, Choreographer Patrick de Bana, and composer Jose Nieto join forces to tell the story of the protagonist Aziz’s journey as he searches for himself. He falls into a dreamlike state where the ultimate goal of his existence is revealed, as represented by the Tree of Life, an icon of knowledge past and the connection with the infinite.
