Over the course of its history, Bahrain International Music Festival has transformed into a key channel of expression for musical talents from home and abroad, as well as a primary conduit for cross-cultural dialogue and innovation. Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities (BACA) has announced that Bahrain 27th International Music Festival will start on 18 October 2018. An array of music concerts performed by a selection of creative musicians from Bahrain, Arab region and from around the world will mesmerize the audience and lovers of music in many cultural venues.

This year, Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities celebrates the 27th edition of annual Bahrain International Music Festival held under the “Muharraq Capital of Islamic Culture, whereby authentic rhythms and popular music evenings will revive sweet memories of Bahrain’s first capital, Muharraq.

The festival kicks off with Iraqi artist Hussain al-Adhamy concert, which will be held on 18 October 2018 at Bahrain National Theatre. Tickets are available at Virgin Megastore at Bahrain City Centre or via e-email at : http://www.virginmegastore.me.

From the National Theater to the Cultural Hall, the festival dances with fairy-tale beats and rhythms coming from the Arab region or the whole world to entertain the audience at 8:00 pm. Free admission. On 19 October 2018, the Palestinian music group, Nawa, and in cooperation the Palestinian Embassy in Bahrain, Nawa: Palestinian Institute for Cultural Development will perform a musical concert by that reveals the deep richness and vast diversity of the musical landscape of pre-Nakba Palestine 1948. On 21 October, Bahrain Music Band, led by Maestro Khalifa Ziman will pay tribute to one of the foremost ambassadors of Bahraini songs, the late great artist Mohammed Ali Abdullah. On 23 October, the Cultural Hall will host an unforgettable showcase of contemporary transcultural music by the exceedingly talented Belgian artist Natacha Atlas and her band of distinguished musicians, who will magically sing the oriental version of “ Mon Amie La Rose” by the famous eternal French singer, Françoise Hardy. The Cultural continues to host many gorgeous Arab music concerts this time with Moroccan artist Nabyla Maan takes the audience on a musical journey that explores how traditional Arab Andalusian music meets jazz improvisation on 25 October 2018. The Cultural will end its festvive music concerts on 26 October with distinguished Syrian singer Waed Bouhassoun’s concert “The Passion of Poetry”, which is a manifestation of her lifelong passion for the Arabic language and its various forms of artistic expression over the centuries.

From Manama the festival will head more South, more exactly to the Tree of Life where An open-air concert by the Ismaeel Dawas Band that showcases the folk music and song heritage and traditions of the Kingdom of Bahrain and Muharraq on 20 October at 8:00pm.

Back to Manama, on 24 October , Bahrain National Museum, In collaboration with the Office of Her Royal Highness Wife of the HM King of Bahrain, will host a marvelous evening of music on the occasion of album launch of “Traditional Bahraini Women’s Songs – Orchestral Works”, a cultural project in which renowned Bahraini composer Dr. Mubarak Najem used the heritage of Bahraini women’s folk songs to create unique orchestral works inspired by this glorious heritage.
Bahrain 27th International Music Festival programme will end in the city of Muharraq where Dar Al Muharraq will host on 27 october 2018 at 7:00pm, “The Art of Women’s Songs”, the immensely rich heritage of local women’s song is showcased in this lecture by Bahraini academic and researcher Jassim bin Harban along with a live show.

As part of2018 Bahrain 27th International Music Festival’s programme,” Syncopation” exhibition will be open for the public until 31 October. In this exhibition, Syncopation, a group of Bahraini creatives gets together Ali Hussain Merza, Maysam AlNasser, Mohammed Haddad and Mariam AlNoaimi present video works reflecting syncopation in our societies. “Syncopation” is a temporary displacement of the regular metrical accent in music caused typically by stressing the weak beat.
