H.E Shaikha Mai Receives Diyar al-Muharraq CEO

H.E Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) President received, on 5 September 2018, Diyar Al-Muharraq Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Maher Al-Shaer and discussed with the him the means of enhancing cooperation to promote cultural infrastructure in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

H.E BACA’s President and Diyar Al-Muharraq CEO visited the “ Burial Mounds Hall”, which was inaugurated at the Bahrain National Museum, on the sidelines of the 42nd meeting of the World Heritage Committee last June. The hall was redesigned and revamped thanks to generous support and sponsorship by the private sector and after strenuous efforts have been deployed.

H.E highlighted the importance of stepping up joint cooperation to promote the cultural momentum in Bahrain, describing the effort as a collective responsibility which brings the public and private parties together. H.E lauded the crucial role of the private sector to promote cultural activity and cement the national identity, describing Diyar Al-Muharraq as an outstanding urban model. H.E also briefed her guest about the outlined cultural activities lined-up for the last quarter of this year as part of the Muharraq Capital of Islamic Culture 2018. Indeed, the end of this month will see the celebration of BACA’s World Tourism Day, launching thus, the second version of its Cultural Tourism Passport. In October 2018, the public have a rendez-vous with the mesmerizing annual Bahrain International Music Festival, while the end of November will see the inauguration of the Pearling Path ‘s UNESCO World Heritage List site’s Visitor Center .

Dr. Al-Shaer, for his part, hailed BACA-led efforts to promote cultural life in Bahrain, stressing keenness on enhancing cooperation and launching projects that serve cultural infrastructure. He stressed the importance of the pivotal role of urbanism in promoting national cultural identity, hailing BACA-led efforts in enriching cultural life in Bahrain. looking forward to cooperation with BACA officials to set up joint projects through investing in Bahrain's cultural infrastructure.
