Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities is planning a field visit tour to Abu Saiba archaeological  site, on 29 March 2019. The aim of the visit is to discover the results of the archaeological excavations of the French Expedition team, made up of experts, specialists in excavations and archeological heritage research. Registration for participation in the Abu Saiba Field visit is open for  those (15 years and above) via BACA’s website : www.culture.gov.bh. Assembly time 3::45 pm.

Since 2017, the French Archaeological Mission in Bahrain is exploring the Tylos civilization in Bahrain, which developed about 2000 years after Dilmun. A major necropolis of this period is presently on study at Abu Saiba, where more than 40 impressive built graves have been identified up to now, and about 20 carefully excavated by the French archaeologists and a bio-anthropologist. Antique looting is important, but these graves reveal unusual aspects of Bahrain’s ancient life.
