A Myriad of “indie-folk” Songs at Mo Zowayed Concert, At the Cultural Hall during the 28th edition of Bahrain International Music Festival

On 20 October 2019, and in an indie-folk musical evening combining vocal hooks, guitar-driven melodies and soulful upbeat sounds, Bahraini musician Mo Zowayed took  the audience on a wanderlust sensational  journey through his transient experiences. The concert is part of the 28th edition of Bahrain International Music Festival.
The Bahraini folk singer-songwriter, Mo Zowayed, who is easily one of the most exciting musicians in Bahrain right now,  blends American bluegrass with upbeat harmonica and acoustic guitar-driven melodies, has been catching our attention for a good couple of years now.  His music is brought to life by talented, highly experienced musicians - some of whom have recorded for and toured with First Aid Kit, Angus & Julia Stone and Hurts. Indie rock is a genre of rock music that originated in the United States and United Kingdom in by the end of the 1990s.

Mo Zowayed (Nickname for the young Bahraini musician Mohammad Zowayed) is the grandson of the late Bahraini artist Mohammed Zowayed, who inspired him to pursue music at a young age. Mo Zowayed and his band have toured the USA, which was sponsored by Red Bull and have opened for major headliners including The Tedeschi Trucks Band, UB40, and Kool & The Gang. The Bahrain young  musician began his career playing the guitar and singing in English at the age of thirteen, quickly becoming a unique musician and songwriter. Mo rose to fame when he stunned judges and the Arab audience with his breath taking performance on "Arabs Got Talent" in 2012. He recently released an album entitled "New York Times", accompanied by his band of musicians from around the globe. Mo and his band (a Bahraini, Saudi, Hungarian, Portuguese and Indian), regularly tour, having played in several US cities and performed in various local festivals and events, most notably at the last Bahrain International Airshow. Having toured with Jools Holland twice (including at the Royal Albert Hall in London), he support Jools once again in December 2019 at the Cardiff Motorpoint Arena, and the Manchester O2 Apollo. Mo is currently recording his second EP, which is set for release during the end 2019.
Worth to mention that the acclaimed festival of Bahrain International Music Festival, which  will run until 26 October 2019, comes part of the Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities’ year-long celebrations, under the theme “Our Year of Celebrations”. The festival will highlight various musical genres ranging from orchestra, rock and pop, to the Kingdom’s very own traditional tunes. Bahrain Culture Authority would like to express its thanks to several embassies in the Kingdom that have a great contribution towards the festival success this year, such as the Embassy of France and the Embassy of Germany.
