The 12th edition of Bahrain Summer Festival kicked off with the sweetest traditional music rhythms and melodies performed in   a live concert by the Ismail Dawas Band on Sunday, on 2 August 2020, at 7:00 pm. The Live performance, organized by Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities, was held at the parking lot of Qal’at al-Bahrain Site Museum in the presence of H.E Shaikha Hala Bint Mohammad Al-Khalifa, Director General at Bahrain Culture Authority.

 Bahrain Culture Authority succeeded to offer a unique drive-in concert, allowing performers to connect with fans in real life while maintaining safe social distancing during the Covid 19 coronavirus pandemic, taking into consideration, first and foremost, the safety of everyone. To ensure physical distancing, audience members were not allowed to leave their cars but could tune into on two FM Radio station bands (98.4 FM) and (95 FM) to get full high-definition sound.


Ismael Dawas Folk Music Group’s performance dazzled the fans and lovers of this sweetest refined genuine popular music traditions of the Kingdom of Bahrain, especially the city of Muharraq, evoking sacred sensations and memories that form the authentic Bahraini heritage. The group presented a sensational original acoustic experience concert.

The festival presents an array of exciting, month-long program of online educational and creative activities, workshops, performances, tours and more, for all ages. International music concerts, story-telling and competitions will also be part of this movement of cultural resilience.

Lovers and fans of Bahrain Summer Festival will struck a rendez-vous between 3-10 August, with a mesmerizing concerts broadcasted online, starting on 6th August, with Mohammad Bin Faris Band and Italian music concert “Gen Rosso”, in collaboration with the Italian embassy. On 7 August 2020, Bahrain Summer Festival will feature a performance by the Ningxia Performing Arts Group ’, organized in collaboration with the Chinese embassy. On 9 August, the public will struck a rendez-vous with the amazing Qalali Folk Band. Workshops will start as soon as 3rd August with “Add a French Touch to Your Home”, held in collaboration with Alliance Française along with the Embassy of French Republic in the Kingdom of Bahrain, and “ Paper Doll Animals” workshop, organized in collaboration with the Embassy of Japan in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Bahrain Summer Festival presents, on 4th August 2020, “Paper Decorations” workshop, held in collaboration with the Palestinian embassy in Bahrain and “Face Masks”, organized in collaboration with Indonesian embassy in Bahrain. Children will certainly will be very happy to learn new challenging doll-making tools and inventing ways in “Paper Craft” workshop on 5 August, while on 10 August, Missoula Children’s Theatre will presents the Robin Hood playdate workshop, held in collaboration with the American embassy in Bahrain, and also “The Art of Mosaics” workshop.
Live cuisine and cooking events are also scheduled by Bahrain Summer Festival’s fans to enjoy Farah Abu Maizar’s “Healthy Popsicles”. On 7 August, the little ones aged 6-12 will have a special trait; the exciting “Jasmine and Sunflower” storytelling session, held collaboration with Sard Child’s Cultural House, followed by creative activities inspired by the story.
With regard to sports’ activities, Bahrain Summer Festival presents, on 8 August, “Fitness and Stretching” event, held in collaboration with the Super Soccer Academy, teaching children “the Brazilian way to play”. This workshop is an opportunity to learn basic fitness skills from home. Last but not least the fans will guided by the lovely twin characters “Nakhool & Nakhoola” through the hall of Bahrain National Museum. The tour will commence with an overview of the museum’s history and excavation missions in Bahrain. Bahrain’s entire history, starting from the prehistoric age to the modern day, will be covered as the tour covers the Bahrain National Museum’s various halls, including the temporary exhibition hall that oversees a number of local and international exhibitions.
