Under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, May Allah protect him, the 49th edition of Bahrain Annual Fine Arts Exhibition will kick off today, Wednesday, May 10. 2023. The annual most –awaited event, which is organized by the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities, will be held at the Bahrain National Museum.

In addition, the exhibition returns this year with a wide range of artistic entries from 55 Bahraini artists and residents presenting more than 100 artworks in the exhibition halls, ranging from paintings, sculptures, installation works, photography, video and other forms of artistic expression that include different materials and techniques and belong to different international art schools.

The peculiarity of the Bahrain Annual Fine Arts Exhibition this year lies in its celebration of the distinguished Bahraini artist and sculptor Khalil Al Hashemi, as part of it is devoted to displaying a group of his most important works and artistic creations. Every year Bahrain Annual Fine Arts honors the winners with valuable awards; the first prize winner will receive Al-Danah Award, designed by the artist Khalil Al Hashemi. The second prizewinner will be given the opportunity to host a solo exhibition at the Art Centre, with all expenses paid, and the third place winner will be offered a two-week external artist-in-residence.

In addition, the opening day will witness the announcement of the winners of the exhibition’s three annual awards, as the first winner will be honored with a souvenir designed by the late Bahraini artist Khalil Al Hashemi.

Indeed, the Bahrain Annual Fine Arts Exhibition is the largest and most important annual art gathering held in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Over the years, it has attracted the most prominent faces of the plastic movement in the Kingdom, including pioneers, as well as young artistic talents, to aptly reflect the comprehensiveness of the Bahraini plastic art experience, which constitutes an important part of the local community cultural movement.
