The Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities continues to celebrate the International Museum Day, by holding an exhibition opening, “Coins Through Culture & History” on 22 May 2023 at 4:00 pm, at the Bahrain National Museum.

The Exhibition “Coins Through Culture & History” traces the historical evolution of rare unique coinage, shedding light on the cultural and commercial aspects of Arab-Roman relations, in addition to the most prominent events that affected the nature of these relations. Besides, it sheds light on Islam’s long history of engaging with other cultures and faiths. Worth to mention that researcher Mohammed Abdul Hakim Al-Aradi, the owner of the Arados Auction, is one of the researchers specialized in the history of Islamic and Byzantine currencies. Al-Aradi is also a member of Numismatics International and the American Numismatic Association. In addition, he has participated in many local and international events and exhibitions related to the history and culture of banknotes and coinage.

International Museum Day is an annual event held on the 18thof May and celebrated by Cultural institutions around the world. Bahrain Culture Authority invites the public in Bahrain to participate in the rest of its activities for this occasion. More information about the activities can be obtained through the authority’s website, culture.gov.bh or follow its accounts on social media at @CultureBah.

It is noteworthy that the Bahrain National Museum, as part of the International Museum Day program, hosted a meeting in its lecture hall to introduce hotels in the Kingdom of Bahrain to the heritage and archaeological sites around the Kingdom, in the presence of a number of hotel managers. The meeting aimed to enhance the hotels' information about Bahrain's sites and cultural heritage, in order to help them promote them to their visitors and guests from all over the world.

The activities will continue until the 24th of this month, as tomorrow, Monday, May 22nd, the second part of the “Doors and Content” tour event will be held, which is an invitation from the Culture Authority to social media influencers to promote archaeological and heritage sites in the Kingdom through guided tours. The event will be held in cooperation with Fuji film and the influential Maryam Abdul Ghaffar in the Bahrain National Museum, Bu Maher Fort, Bahrain Fort and the Bahrain Fort Site Museum. On May 24, a discussion session "Sustainability and Well-being in the Future of Museums" will be held at 11:00 am at the University of Bahrain.
