Calling all artists in Bahrain: Participation in the Bahrain 49th Annual Fine Arts Exhibition

The 49th annual anniversary of the Fine Arts Exhibition will be held in January 2023. The Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) is now accepting online applications until november 15th 2022.

Application Conditions

• Applicants must be Bahraini nationals or residents in Bahrain and above the age of 18.
• Artworks must be original and not older than a year old.
• In the case of installations, make sure a document is sent with full description/sketches of the work (taking into considerations scales and ratios), specifying area needed and material used, as well as exhibiting requirements (electricity, lights, etc..)
• Every artist can submit up to 4 artworks (ensuring cohesiveness), Selection committee reserves the right to select some or all artworks.
• Any application that is incomplete or does not meet the condition will be disqualified.
• The deadline is Tuesday November 15st, at 23:59 pm. No application will be accepted after it.

How to apply?

• Artists can only apply through the Bahrain Authority of Culture and Antiquities’ website www.culture.gov.bh
• Only completed applications will be presented to and discussed with the selection committees.
• Once accepted, the team will be in touch with the artists to submit their works, all communications will be via emails.

Artworks will be selected based on five main standards:
Visual impact, concept, craftsmanship/skill, and composition and design. The selection committee is looking for artwork with unique organization of art elements, content, & execution with ‘outside the box’ thinking and research. The selection committee is looking for work that demonstrates skill, understand of various medium qualities, and has effective use of the principles of design. Finally, the committee will select works with clear innovation.
Awards will be announced at a later time.
