To discuss cooperation and common projects

Preservation of heritage and the raising of standards are key elements in all projects undertaken so far by the Authority in close cooperation and consultation with the residents of Manama and Muharraq was the key objective of the meeting between H.E Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al-Khalifa, president of Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities (BACA), Works Ministry Assistant Undersecretary for Roads Huda Fakhro, and Assistant Undersecretary for Joint Municipal Services Raed Al Salah on 25 June 2015.

H.E stressed the need and importance of communication between the different sectors in order to help promote comprehensive coordination between Bahrain’s institutions. Such constructive work would lead to successful organization of all activities and events contributing to making Bahrain an exceptional and unique destination in the region. H.E lauded the recent pioneering projects by the Ministry of Works, which helped develop a unique urban and cultural infrastructure in the kingdom of Bahrain.

The meeting focused on enhancing cooperation to preserve Bahrain's glorious urban architectural heritage and the need for concerted efforts to promote the national identity through various projects. They also discussed the urban fabric of the city of Manama, Bab al-Bahrain beautification project, Government Avenue, Shaikh Isa bridge lighting, in addition to the latest developments with regard to green spaces of Manama’s Northern bridge. The meeting also discussed the best ways and means of preserving historic places for use by future generations ensuring the protection of Bahrain's rich cultural heritage, and focused on present and planned projects in Bab al-Bahrain area, such as the Post Office Museum and the restoration of the Customs’ building.

The meeting also discussed the latest developments and recent works implemented in the project of the pedestrian flyover connecting UNESCO World Heritage List Pearling Trail with Abu Maher Fort, which is the start of a 3-km road from the heart of the historical city of Muharraq.
