Bahrain Culture Authority Kicks off National Day Celebrations With “Fuego” Falminco Dance

Bahrain National Theater hosted, on 1st December 2017, the world-renowned ballet dance” Fuego”, kicking off Culture Authority’s program for National Day celebrations during this month. 

The audience was mesmerized by Antonio Gades Company, a major pillar of Spanish flamenco dance, presenting “Fuego”, which is inspired by the work of the late Spanish legendary composer, Manuel de Falla. The plot, choreography and lighting made by the late Antonio Gades and the Spanish film director, photographer and writer Carlos Saura. Coinciding with the tenth anniversary of the death of Antonio Gades, the foundation that carries his name decided to undertake a very significant challenge setting up another version of the Manuel de Falla’s ballet “Enchanted Love”.

Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities is offering to its lovely audiences in Bahrain an array of 17 events to celebrate this most cherished event, His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, may God protect him, Accession to the Throne. The program ranges between cultural events, arts, music, literature, and inauguration of culture infrastructure projects ceremonies.

On 5 December 2017, Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities rainbow colors will travel to the he Hermitage State Museum St Petersburg, and will certainly attract the admiration of many visitors to “ The Land of Dilmun, Where the Sun Rises” exhibition. Coinciding with Bahraini Women’s Day festivities, the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities celebrates Manama Capital of Arab Women 2017 through a cultural program that features an art exhibition showcasing works by select female artists and a fashion show which highlights the various traditional female garments of Arab women throughout history. The event will be held at the Art Center on 6 December at 6:00 pm.

Dar Al Muharraq will host, on 9 & 23 December, live performances highlighting the various styles of the uniquely Bahraini Fjiri tradition, a mystical genre that traces its roots back to the island’s glorious legacy of its world-famous pearling heritage at 8:00pm.

The second exhibition by BACA will be “An Ode to Life - An exhibition by THE BOX, a creative collective”, and will be held at Qal’at al Bahrain Site Museum at 4:00 pm.

“Manama Doesn’t Sleep” celebrates the 29th anniversary of the Bahrain National Museum with an exciting lineup of events over 12 continuous hours, including music and dance shows, literary talks, fine art exhibits and more. The event is incorporation with Tamkeen. Events will be held on 15 - 16 December 2017, 7:00am - 7:00pm.

On 16 December 2017 at 4:30pm, Bahrain National Museum will host a lecture by Dr. Zahi Hawass on “The Archaeology of Egypt”, followed by BACA’s Closing Ceremony of "Our Year of Archaeology" inaugurating Sound & Light Project at Qala’at al Bahrain at 6:00 pm. The same day too, lovers of orchestra music will be satisfied while attending Orchestral Bahraini Tunes, Conducted by Mubarak Najem & Deyan Pavlov concert at Bahrain National Theater at 8:00.

On Martyr’s Day, on 17 December 2017 at 10:00 am, Bahrain National Museum and Darseen café will present a workshop by artist Hala Mohammed Al Khalifa, and Chef Bassam Al Alawi. the workshop for children inspired by jasmine flowers, a longtime symbol for hope, in which they will also plant jasmine seedlings in back garden of the Bahrain National Museum. Al Razeji flowers planting activities will also be organized.

In celebration of World Arabic Language Day, the Arab Regional Centre for World Heritage, will celebrate the event dedicated this year to theme of “Arabic Language and Modern Technologies” on 18 December at 10:00 am. On 20 December at 6:00 pm Qala’at al Bahrain Site Museum invites its visitors to discover the hidden treasures of the “ prehistoric land” through A unique exhibition presenting the best works showcased in “Unearthing”, an initiative by the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities to support the pottery industry in Bahrain.

Festive events will move this time to Riffa on 21 December, launching the official “Opening of Dar Al Riffa Al-Oda” at 8:00pm. The end of these celebrations will kick off another major important event planned by Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities, that is the program of the Muharraq Capital of Islamic Culture 2018, which will see the launch of more than 20 projects throughout the year, including the project "Pearling Road: Testimony to an Island Economy". The press conference by BACA will be held at Bu Maher Fort at 12:30.

During this month three amazing exhibitions are still welcoming their visitors to discover the beauty and genuine historical treasures; The Pearling Path Exhibition, at Bahrain National Museum, which will run until 31 December 2017, The Stamp Seal: Hallmark of Dilmun and its Hidden Art, at Bahrain National Museum until 20 December and Bahrain National Theatre‘s “HOUE” installation exhibition running until 28 February 2018.
