Culture Authority Continues to Receive Participations in “Muharraq Capital of Islamic Culture 2018” Publications’ Competition
Through marking the celebrations of Muharraq as the Capital of Islamic Culture 2018, Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities is announcing an open call for submission of texts and manuscripts to be published by BACA in relation to the city of Muharraq. BACA aims to shed lights on the fact that Islamic architecture encompasses a wide range of both secular and religious styles from the foundation of Islam to the present day, influencing the design and construction of buildings and structures in Islamic culture and beyond.
Worth to mention that pparticipation is open to all cultural topics, including “ poetry, prose, novels, short stories, studies, heritage and archeology, etc.” BACA will publish a series of books documenting the cultural and historical aspects of the city of Muharraq in 2018.
The advisory committee is working on the selection submissions it deems fit to publish in relation to the celebration of Muharraq 2018 Capital of Culture. The city is looking forward to host this international event through a vibrant cultural infrastructure and pioneer project, such as UNESCO’s Pearling: Testimony of an Island Economy to be accomplished in 2018 too. The published books will be launched during the 18th Bahrain International Book fair in 2018. The entrants will be advised of the status of their entry in October 2017.
For those who wish to participate, BACA would like to inform them that they should satisfy certain terms & conditions: the Author is a Bahraini or Arab national and is above the age of 18, works previously published will not be considered, the selection of final manuscripts is at the discretion of the advisory committee
