H.E Shaikha Mai Receives SCW’s General Secretary

H.E Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, President of Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities, received on 6 June 2017, a delegation from the Supreme Council for Women led by Secretary-General Hala Al Ansari, in the presence of Dr. Riadh Hamza, President of the University of Bahrain, Mr. Masoud Ebrahim A-Hermi, President Bahrain Society of Engineers. The meeting discussed the preparations for the celebrations of Bahraini Women's Day to be held in December.

On the sidelines of the meeting, H.E Shaikha Mai Al Khalifa said “ We are pleased that BACA's participation, as an active partner in Bahrain celebrations of Bahraini Women's Day 2017, reflects our strong belief and confidence in the role of women in building prosperous communities”. H.E added saying “ we highly and praise the commendable role played by the Supreme Council for Women (SCW) under the leadership of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of His Majesty King Hamad and Supreme Council for Women (SCW) chairwoman, May God protect Her, in empowering Bahraini women and supporting them in assuming their role, as well as in integrating their efforts in the kingdom's development programmes”.

H.E also stressed the importance of cooperation between government and private bodies to promote community work that enhances the status of Bahraini individual. This comes in the context of the pursuit of Bahrain to highlight the successes achieved reflected in the status of women at the national level, and in an effort to circulate active best practices to enhance the status of women at the global level, H.E argued.

After the meeting , the delegation made visit to the 2012 UNESCO World Heritage List Pearling Path Exhibition, showcased at Bahrain National Museum, and they were briefed about its completion next year, when Muharraq will be celebrated as Capital of Islamic Culture 2018.
