H.E Shaikha MaI Receives a Delegation from Northern Governorate

H.E Shaikha Mai Bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, President of Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities (BACA) received at her office , on 21 June 2017, a delegation from the Northern Governorate. The meeting was held on 18 May 2016 and discussed the common cooperation perspectives with regard to protecting and preserving Bahrain’s national heritage.

BACA officials welcomed the municipal council delegation, stressing the importance of consolidating all parties’ efforts to protect the world heritage of Bahrain and pass it to the future generations. BACA’s officials lauded the efforts of the Northern Governorate's Municipal Council and the constant cooperation with the Authority, which would contribute to the quick implementation of many cultural projects, resulting in development for Bahraini locals and bright world image for its world cultural and historical herita ge.

The meeting focused on the need to develop the cultural infrastructure in the Northern Governorate, stressing particularly the importance of setting up museums near archaeological sites, including temples in Barbar and Saar. BACA President underlined the cultural strategy to document the history and promote Bahrain’s longstanding human heritage in local and international arenas. H.E stressed BACA keenness on working directly with the municipal councils and citizens to protect national cultural and archaeological vestiges and turn them into assets to bolster social and economic development and promote cultural tourism.

The delegation members lauded the landmark cultural and tourism achievements attained by Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities at the local, regional and international levels. They expressed Northern Governorate's Municipal Council’s constant readiness to cooperate with BACA and contribute effectively in the cultural and tourist development in the Kingdom of Bahrain through future pioneering cultural projects.
