GCC Traffic Week Delegations Visit Bu Maher Fort & National Museum

On the side-lines of their participation in the 33rd GCC Traffic Week, which started on 11 March 2017, Bahrain National Museum welcomed GCC representative delegations on 12 March 2017, in the presence of Bahrain’s General Directorate of Traffic and many local civil society organizations.

The delegations’ members made a visit to Bahrain National Museum that hosts an exhibition dedicated to traffic history. They expressed their delight to get acquainted about deeply-rooted Bahrain’s history and civilisations, stressing that Bahrain boast a unique civilizational, historical and human heritage and history in the region, pointing out that culture is a means to extend bridges between civilisations. The visit program also included a sea trip to Bu Maher Fort and its Visitors Centre, where they enjoyed the marvellous project of Pearl Trail. Indeed, “Pearling, Testimony of an Island Economy” represents an open museum throughout the alleyways of historical town of Muharraq, an outstanding example of traditional utilization of the sea’s resources and human interaction with the environment, which shaped both the economy and cultural identity of the island’s society. In 2012, "Pearling, Testimony of an island economy" a 2 miles long path in the heart of the city of Muharraq, second main island in Bahrain, was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Worth to mention that BACA invites all sea trip lovers to embark on amazing adventure starting from the National Museum to Bu Maher Fort on a daily basis from 10:00 am until 4:00 pm.
