Culture Authority Participates in the 4th Joint Working Team Meeting - GCC & Jordan

Mr. Hani Jamal, Director of the National Theater, led a delegation from Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities to participate in the 4th GCC Culture Joint Working Team Group meeting between Jordan and GCC countries, held in Amman Jordan on 23 May 2017.

The meeting looked into the proposed cultural plan of action for 2017-2018 within the framework of the Joint Action Plan approved by the Ministerial Council and the Memorandum of Understanding by reviewing the objectives of this plan and the proposed cultural activities in the GCC and Jordan. Mr. Hani Jamal, Director of the National Theater, represented Bahrain the meeting that brought together participants from the Ministries of Culture in the UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Oman Kuwait and Jordan along with the GCC General Secretariat.

The meeting also discussed the GCC Secretariat's Memorandum of Understanding on the follow-up to the implementation of the decisions of the third meeting of the joint working group on culture held in March last year. The participants also recommended enhancement of mutual GCC & Jordan culture officials visits, holding activities, festivals, exhibitions, book fairs and art forums during 2017 & 2018.

The participants also reviewed a proposal presented by Kuwait to launch a joint cultural heritage project between GCC countries and Jordan, and they recommended that Kuwait undertakes the comprehensive study, preparation and global vision of the proposed project during the next 5th Joint Meeting to be held in 2018.

The Bahraini delegation also participated on 23 May 2017 in a forum on “ Arab Fine Arts: a cultural reality that champions rationality and counters violence and extremism”. The forum also issued a final recommendation to revive the old Arab Artists Union, present a request to declare a World Day for Fine Arts, like the World Poetry Day, hold art shows meetings that deal with universal refusal of violence, extremism and waging wars. The documents should be visual and available for public, they also recommended.
The 4th Joint Working Team Group Meeting also inaugurated the Joint Exhibition of Fine Art for GCC and Jordanian artists, which is being held at the Royal Cultural Centre in Amman, Jordan. The event is being organized in coordination with the Secretariat-General of GCC states. The Kingdom of Bahrain participates in this exhibition, showcasing the art works of artist Waheeda Mallullah.
