H.E Shaikha Mai Bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, President of Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities (BACA) received at her office, on 19 November 2017, Mr.Nour Suliman, the CEO of DHL Express for Middle East and North Africa to discuss ways and means of boosting cooperation in the interest of enhancing Bahrain’s cultural movement.

The meeting also discussed common cooperation measures aimed at promoting Bahrain as a pioneering destination for cultural tourism, and stressed the importance of of upgrading the cultural infrastructure as Bahrain is a leading regional and global cultural center. Under the cooperation programme, the DHL Express will provide support for BACA’s cultural programmes and events celebrating Muharraq as the Capital of Islamic Culture 2018.

H.E, BACA’s President expressed her thanks and appreciation to DHL Express company for the generous support and belief in the cultural potential, which capable of uplifting Bahrain’s public-private policies. H.E argued that cooperation and support would promote the national cultural achievements, welcoming the private sector’s contribution to benefit the cultural infrastructure projects. In addition, BACA intends to implement more than 20 projects during this major event, such as using the empty spaces of Muharraq’s roads and intersections to organize major art exhibitions and workshops that astonish and the attract the attention of visitors and participants at festivities celebrating “ Muharraq Capital of Islamic Culture 2018”.Through marking the celebrations of Muharraq as the Capital of Islamic Culture 2018, Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities aims to shed lights on the fact that Islamic architecture encompasses a wide range of both secular and religious styles from the foundation of Islam to the present day, influencing the design and construction of buildings and structures in Islamic culture and beyond

Mr.Nour Suliman, DHL Express CEO, for his part, lauded the strenuous efforts deployed by BACA to make Bahrain a pioneering cultural hub and preferred destination, voicing his readiness to cooperate with the Authority with regard to future cultural projects.
DHL Express CEO also welcomed cooperation in the interest of reinforcing cultural infrastructure, commended the BACA’s efforts to promote Bahrain‘s cultural standing internationally.
