In Line with the Royal Directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, H.E Shaikha Mai has signed an agreement to be allocated a pavilion at the Expo 2020 Dubai.

H.E Shaikha Mai Bint Mohammad Al Khalifa, President of Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities (BACA) signed the agreement, on 19 October 2017,  with Reem Bint Ebrahim Al Hashemi, Minister of State for International Cooperation and Director-General Expo 2020 Dubai Bureau. This followed directives from H.M. King Hamad Bin Eisa Al Khalifa and the royal assignment to organize the Bahrain’s participation in Expo 2020 Dubai.
Speaking for the occasion, H.E said “The Kingdom of Bahrain takes pride in its experience of participations at similar events”. H.E Shaikha Mai, the General Commissioner of Expo 2020 Dubai, Bahrain pavilion, added saying “Bahrain first took part in Shanghai 2010 Expo before clinching the silver prize at Milan 2015 Expo, topping fifty other national pavilions.  The Bahraini delegation came back from Italy with a silver medal for its innovative pavilion. the “Archaeologies of Green” pavilion won the second prize for “Best pavilion built on a plot larger than 2000 sqm”. The pavilion represented the ancient civilization of Dilmun and the country’s agrarian heritage and culture. The centerpiece of the building were ten distinct fruit gardens, each bearing fruits at a different time during the six-month-long event. It reminded of the legends of Bahrain as the location of the Garden of Eden and the Land of the One Million Palms. H.E also said “Preparations are now in full swing with a specialized team to make its participation a platform to attract Expo 2020 Dubai visitors to Bahrain thanks to its geographic proximity, given Bahrain’s world heritage sites and know-how credentials, which present a different experience as a sustainable tourism-for-development destination.”
H.E added saying “ Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities deploys strenuous  efforts to ensure the participation to reveal Bahrain’s bright image and promote investment potential in the sectors of culture and cultural tourism.”
H.E thanked the organizers of Dubai  Expo 2020 adding “ Dubai is capable to make  many dreams come true and succeed in this worldwide rendezvous expo, which will shed light on the future solutions, creative and innovative workforce talent. This will not run counter to development of cultural projects and preservation of historical heritage of GCC Arab countries”. 
World Expo 2020, the international event Dubai is bidding hard to bring home, would feature a spectacular exhibition, pavilions, cultures and business gatherings. What Dubai is hoping to do with it is make it a benchmark for human progress and a roadmap for the way forward. Located on 438 hectares, 10 minutes from Jebel Ali Port and situated next to the new Dubai World Central Airport, the iconic design of Dubai Expo 2020 will be an additional permanent legacy to leverage  the surrounding facilities and fostering innovation, education and global collaboration. The site’s master plan has been designed to visualize the country’s Expo bid theme: Connecting Minds, Creating the Future.
