BACA Inaugurates “Foundry Flukes” Exhibition by Noora Fraidoon

Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities inaugurated on 10 September 2017 “Foundry Flukes” exhibition by artist Noora Fraidoon, in the presence of H.E Shaikh Rashid bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Interior Ministry Undersecretary for Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs, the Honorary President of Bahrain Arts Society and H.E Shaikha Hala Bint Mohammad Al-Khalifa, Director of Culture & Arts Directorate at the Art Centre. The ceremony was attended by many artists, culture and art lovers. Artist Noora Fraidoon, won the 2nd prize winner of 43rd Bahrain Arts Exhibition awards organized by Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities every year.

The exhibition “Foundry Flukes”, designed and fabricated by MASBAK, showcases an array of unique art pieces and services ranging from original bronze sculptures by local and international artists in addition to the debut of our first utilitarian-art collection that were commissioned, designed and fabricated by MASBAK. Indeed, the exhibition is a response to the aspiration of many artists, who have expressed the fact that they feel trapped artistically because the canvas is the only accessible means of expression. Therefore, we are providing them with a new platform through which they can express their visions and inspirations. “At our foundry we receive artists of all styles and backgrounds such as realism, modernism, abstract art, deconstructionism and cubism, to name but a few”, artist Noora Fraiddon says. “They would present their original sculptures to us and then we discuss the best method to carry on with the work.

Worth to mention that artist Noora Fraidoon has an MA, Architectural engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, who was fallen in love with the beauty of genuine and organic nature of materials while working as an engineer. Speaking about this passion, Noora Fraidoon said “I have always been intrigued by the unseen and ways in which it could be seen. I believe, or at least I would like to believe, in the alchemical notion that everything around us contains a universal spirit, a concealed substance that remains hidden and unseen”. Artist Noora Fraidoon also won many prizes, such as Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University’s annual Design/Build” award. The artist uses this concept to fill the gap between the designer and the creator, leading to many beautifully rich manifestations of colorful products through these items. This also entails a harmony between the imaginative concepts of beautiful art and the real world. In her daily work as director of MASBAK art gallery and workshop, Noora interacts with raw materials and other fabricated and formed, entailing her to dive into the very essence of these materials and triggers her curiosity to discover the core of beauty and fascinating genuine prettiness of these products before man can over -shape or industrialize intensively.
