H.E Receives the Russian Ambassador, Future cultural cooperation discussed

H.E Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al-Khalifa, President of Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities (BACA) received, on 27 September 2017, the Russian Ambassador to Bahrain H.E Vagif Garaev to discuss many joint cultural projects topics and future cooperation between Russia and Bahrain.

H.E Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa commended the ambassador’s efforts to boost bilateral cultural relations, stressing the depth of the good relations between the two countries and the importance of building cultural bridges with art and literature between the two peoples. H.E added that since 2011, Bahraini-Russian cultural relations have increasingly boosted the mutual cultural presence of both countries during many events and festivities held in Russian and Bahrain.

The meeting also discussed BACA’s Dilmon Exhibition to be held at the Hermitage Museum of St Petersburg, which comes after “Tylos, The Journey Beyond Life” exhibition, hosted by St Petersburg-based State Hermitage Museum back in 2012. The admiration and strong demand to organize a second exhibition showing the hidden historical treasures of the Kingdom of Bahrain have encouraged BACA to plan such an amazing cultural event. The meeting also shed light on St Petersburg Russian ballet show “Romeo and Juliet”, scheduled for next Nov 12th 2017 at Bahrain National Theater in celebration of its 5th anniversary.

The Russian Ambassador handed an invitation over to H.E Shaikha Mai to attend the 2017 St. Petersburg International Cultural Forum, lauding the efforts deployed by of H.E Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al-Khalifa to open new horizons with Russia, especially during annual and national festivals and events which bridge the gap between countries and cultures.H.E Vagif Garaev expressed his country's constant readiness to participate in Bahrain's cultural and intellectual development process and exchange many common universal cultural, art and music beauties.
