Coordination Meeting Between GCC Secretariat and Culture Authority: GCC Pavilion at Dubai 2020 Expo Discussed

A coordination meeting between GCC Secretariat and representatives from Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities, was held on 22 January 2018. The meeting discussed cooperation channels and determining a wider GCC Roadshow with the Expo 2020 Dubai, which will reflect the common historical cultural diversity and identity.

Expected to attract 25 million visitors, Gulf states will showcase the region and the power of unity when it hosts its own pavilion new pavilion at the Expo 2020 site in Dubai. The Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, formerly the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), will have its own Expo pavilion as well as individual national pavilions of member states. The pavilion will demonstrate the unique collaboration of member countries, and the achievements of more than three decades of cooperation. The pavilion will also echo the Expo 2020 Dubai theme of ‘Connecting Minds, Creating the Future’ when the world exhibition opens on October 20, 2020.

World Expo 2020, the international event Dubai is bidding hard to bring home, would feature a spectacular exhibition, pavilions, cultures and business gatherings. What Dubai is hoping to do with it is make it a benchmark for human progress and a roadmap for the way forward. Located on 438 hectares, 10 minutes from Jebel Ali Port and situated next to the new Dubai World Central Airport, the iconic design of “Dubai Expo 2020” will be an additional permanent legacy to leverage the surrounding facilities and fostering innovation, education and global collaboration. The site’s master plan has been designed to visualize the country’s Expo bid theme: Connecting Minds, Creating the Future.
