H.E Shaikha Mai Receives a Delegation from Al-Ahram Foundation

H.E Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, President of Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities, received, on 6 March 2018, the Chairman of Al-Ahram Foundation and Head of Egypt's Press Syndicate, Abdel-Mohsen Salama, and the accompanying delegation.

During the meeting, H.E Shaikha Mai briefing them about the main local cultural activities going underway such as Muharraq, which is celebrated as the Capital of Islamic Culture during the whole year 2018. H.E also talked about Bahrain’s sites registered already on the UNESCO's World Heritage List, such as Qal'at al Bahrain archaeological site (Bahrain Fort), which is an ancient harbor and capital of Dilmun, is Bahrain’s first site to be inscribe on UNESCO World Heritage List since 2005, and Pearling: Testimony of Island Economy. In addition, the Egyptian delegation were briefed about BACA’s future visionary plan to include other sites on the list, such as Manama, the city of tolerance and coexistence and the embodiment of genuine Bahraini values.

H.E also discussed with the Egyptian press delegation the role of youth in the sustainable cultural development and the Bahraini expertise, reflected in the annual Ta’a al Shabab’s Festival. Such a cultural endeavour is a pioneer project for the future generations and an investment in developing intellectual mind-sets.

The Egyptian delegation expressed admiration for Bahrain’s cultural movement, lauding Bahrain’s rich cultural scene and deeply-rooted history, praising BACA’s President, H.E Shaikha Mai for her efforts to invigorate the cultural momentum in the kingdom. Indeed, H.E’s efforts to preserve and safeguard Bahrain cultural heritage, have yielded many positive outcomes regionally and internationally. The Egyptian delegation stressed the importance of shedding light on these cultural assets via shared and common cultural relations.
