Preparations and Equipment’s Follow-Up Meeting, To best host the 42nd World Heritage Committee meeting discussed

H.E Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, President of Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA), held a meeting, on 13 March 2018, with staff in charge of equipment and facilities needed to best host the coming 42nd World Heritage Committee meeting, which will be held from 24 June-7 July 2018 in Bahrain. In fact, the Kingdom of Bahrain won a seat in the World Heritage List by an overwhelming majority of 121 votes of the 21st General Assembly of the States Parties to the 1972 World Heritage Convention, meeting from 14 to 15 November 2017 at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, France, convening the 193 States Parties to the World Heritage Convention. In addition Bahrain will host two other major international forums; World Heritage Youth Forum ( from 17-26 June 2018) and World Heritage Site Managers’ Forum from 20-28 June 2018.

Worth to mention that the Kingdom of Bahrain succeeded to win the World Heritage Committee membership and presidency twice, thanks to its pioneering projects aimed at preserving and safeguarding heritage. Such projects can be seen in the wonderful work carried out by the Arab Regional Centre for World Heritage (ARC-WH) in Bahrain, mandated to protect and preserve the historical heritage of the Arab world in an effective manner.
