H.E Receives Director of Louvre’s Middle Eastern Antiquities Department, Bahrain’s Abu Dhabi’s Louvre Exhibition Discussed

H.E Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, President of the Bahrain Authority for Culture &Antiquities (BACA), received on 5 November 2018, Mrs Marielle Pic, Director of Louvre’s Middle Eastern Antiquities Department, to discuss ways and means of mutual cooperation.

During the meeting, H.E stressed the importance of museums to preserve and document the universal and historical heritage of humanity, arguing that Bahrain Authority for Culture &Antiquities is deploying strenuous efforts to develop its culture infrastructure and establish new museums for visitors to discover the richness of the Kingdom’s ancient history. H.E added that Bahrain National Museum, which will celebrate its 30th anniversary next December, continues to host world’s famous major exhibitions, pointing out to constructive cooperation with Louvre museum to promote Bahrain’s National Museums’ relics that embody the history of ancient civilizations that stretch back for many thousands of years.

The meeting also discussed the technical and practical ways and means of cooperation and partnership with regard to UAE’s Abu Dhabi Louvre Museum’s hosting of Bahrain National Museum’s relics.

Mrs. Marielle Pic, said that the Kingdom of is considered as one of the pioneer historical civilization hub in the region, lauding BACA’s efforts to safeguard the world heritage in Bahrain and the Arab region. Mrs. Pic expressed her optimism and hope that cooperation between Louvre Abu Dhabi and Bahrain National Museum would yield fruitful results and vivid cultural activities, reflecting the richness of the region’s history, and would eventually shed lights on Bahrain’s historical achievements worth to be promoted worldwide.
