Fruitful Cooperation Between Culture Authority & Bahrain Trust, Award winning results “ Micro –Schools” at Al- Khalifiyah Library

The historical and iconic Al-Khalifiyah Library in Muharraq hosted, on 31 October 2018, an award announcement event, “Micro-Schools”, organized by Bahrain Trust Foundation, in cooperation with Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities. The event was attended by H.E Shaikha Hala bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, Director-General of Culture & Arts, at the Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities, Dr. Fatima Al Balooshi, Chairperson of Bahrain Trust Foundation, the Arbitration Committee, Award winners and lovers of culture in Bahrain.

H.E Shaikha Hala bint Mohammed Al Khalifa said at the beginning of the ceremony : “ Welcome to Al-Khalifiyah library, this historical and iconic cultural symbol of education in Bahrain and Muharraq, a city celebrated this year as the Capital of Islamic Culture 2018”. H.E shed lights on BACA’s role to carry out knowledge-based and education projects, adding that cultural achievements are the fruits of successful collective efforts by everyone. H.E has pointed out also that children stories are the most effective tools to enhance the Arabic language teaching for the next generations, anchoring genuine Arab values characteristics, raising their awareness about local, regional and international issues. H.E argued that the little ones are the bright future of the Kingdom of Bahrain and the rest of the Arab world.

Dr. Fatima Al Balooshi, for her part, thanked H.E Shaikha Hala bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, representing Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities for their relentless efforts to develop ad support all culture aspects and elements in Bahrain. Al-Balooshi added that the good award winning results reflect a very fruitful cooperation between BACA, interactive effective participation by participants and the professional work team of the Arbitration committee. Al-Balooshi also said that Bahrain Trust Foundation agreed and adopted Bahrain Culture Authority’s proposal to hold this competition every two years during the organization of Bahrain’s International Book Fair.

Al-Balooshi added that Bahrain Trust Foundation is working on the implementation of “ Micro-schools’ projects aiming at providing equitable modern education skills to children with disabilities and special needs little ones caught in harsh conditions, such refugees, remote villages’ children, children with chronic diseases in countries like Egypt, India, Mali and Bahrain. Dr. Al-Balloshi added that this Micro-schools initiative aims to encourage independent learning, improves the quality of students’ lives and secure a future for them, through award announcement of winning short stories candidates.

Dr. Jameela al Saadoon, Head of Arbitration Committee, thanked everyone for making this competition a bright success, pointing out that to the crucial role played by Bahrain University committee members, Bahrain Trust Foundation and Culture Authority. Al-Saadoon also thanked award winners, inviting them to continue their perseverance and determination for more creative literary successful results.
At the end of the event, Bahrain Trust Foundation announced the results of the competition and winners; Najiba Al Sabaa, First Award, Iman Meqadr, Second Award, while the Fourth award went to Rana Ali. The Fifth Award went to Muneera Siwar, Sixth Award went to Mustapha Abdul Fattah and last award went to Batool Al-Ajaweed. The Foundation also honored Arbitration Committee member, namely Dr. Jameela al Saadoon, Head of Arbitration Committee, Dr. Shaikha Ahamd Al-Juneid, Dr. Dhia Al-Kaabi, Dr. Sama Al-Hashemi, Shaikha Reem Al-Khalifa, Mrs. Aysha al Sada and Mrs. Nada al Fardan.

Worth to mention that “ Micro-Schools” competition is open to Bahrainis and Arab writers who are invited to present illustrated short stories in certain topics. Winners were awarded Appreciation and Recognition certificates this year, while Bahrain Culture Authority will publish the stories, giving every winner 100 copies of the story. Bahrain Trust Foundation would seek to sell the story and assure its distribution in schools and public libraries in countries where it operates.
