Bahrain Culture Authority Celebrates World Tourism Day,Many Events Planned

Confirming the well-advanced position of the Kingdom of Bahrain on world stage, as a historical and cultural destination, Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities celebrates, on 27 September 2018, UNESCO adopted World Tourism Day. The event will be held at Al-Khalifiyah Library throughout the day, kicking off in Muharraq , the Capital of Islamic Culture 2018, and ending in the National Theater, Manama.

On 27 September 2018 at midday at Al-Khalifiyah Library, which will celebrate its 65th anniversary jubilee and which was rebuilt thanks to a generous sponsorship by BBK bank, Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities will launch the 2nd edition of Cultural Tourism Passport at Muharraq and will announce its most-awaited BACA’s program for 2019, baptized as “ 2019, A Year of Celebrations”. At 6:00 pm BACA will celebrate the 40th anniversary of French Archaeological Expedition in Bahrain at the country’s most iconic and historical landmarks, such as Qala'at Al-Bahrain Site Museum, built on 2008 as part of “ Invest in Culture” initiative launched by H.E Shaikha Mai and sponsored by Arcapita bank. At 8:00 pm, a mesmerizing ballet, gathering principal dancers from the world’s most prestigious ballet companies perform in Bahrain – ‘Star Gala’ will be presented to the lovers of this art at the National Theater.

“ 2019, A Year of Celebrations”

As Bahrain’s Culture Authority’s 2018 agenda is coming to end, celebrating Muharraq as the Capital of Arab Culture, BACA announces the launch of its latest challenging publications “ 2019, A year of Celebrations”, especially published to herald BACA’s next year’s new challenging vision highlighting social-historical and economic achievements by the Kingdom of Bahrain under the Wise Leadership over 10- 120 years, going from one Jubilee to the next.

Next year’s one of the most celebrated jubilees will certainly be the 20th Anniversary Celebration of His Majesty King Hamad Bin Isa Khalifa’s Accession to the Throne, His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the Prime Minister, 65th Anniversary of first official mission, the 50th Birthday celebration of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, the 15th Anniversary of the Global Award for Women Empowerment , launched by Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of His Majesty the King. Others jubilees celebrated by Bahrain Culture Authority will include achievements made in education, knowledge spread, municipal work, economy, foreign relations, health, culture etc. The book also contains information on different cultural seasons and most important events planned for next year, such as exhibitions, lectures and culture seasons.

Culture Tourism Passport

After the outstanding success of 2015 version, Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities is planning to launch the new updated version of “ Culture Tourism Passport” in 2019, in order to encourage citizens, residents and visitors to discover the hidden wonders and treasures of Bahrain’s historical and cultural civilizations, including the city of Muharraq. The passport is a symbolic document that shows the way to 18 significant culture stops in Muharraq, a space to stamp the passport by the holder when he visits the site, as well as a personal information data to be filled by the passport’s holder. Therefore, every holder of this passport, which will be distributed at Al-Khalifiyah Library, Bahrain 2015 Milano Expo “Green Archeology” stand, Shaikh Ibrahim Center for Culture & Research in October and November, should make sure that his passport is stamped at all the 18 culture spots determined. Deadline to deliver stamped passports is 30 November 2018 at Bahrain National Museum in order to qualify for the award’s draw, scheduled during Bahrain’s celebrations of National Day on 18 December, a day celebrated as the Arabic Language Day, at the Regional Center for Arab World Heritage.

The 40th Anniversary of the French Archaeological Mission in Bahrain

On the occasion of the 40th Anniversary of the French Archaeological Expedition Mission in Bahrain, Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities, in cooperation with the French Embassy in Bahrain, organizes an inauguration of an artifacts exhibition, featuring the most significant archeological discoveries by the French team during the last years. The event will also include a honoring ceremony to be held whereby Dr. Pierre Lombard, Head of the French Archaeological Mission and Antiquities Affairs’ Counsel at BACA, will receive National Order of Merit. The prestigious award will be handed over by Mrs. Béatrice André-Salvini, former Director of the Eastern Antiquities department, Louvre Museum, on Behalf of the French President and in the presence of the French ambassador.

National Theater Presents World Famous ‘Star Gala’ Dancers Ballet

Bahrain National Theater will host on 27 September 2018 at 8:00 pm, a mesmerizing ballet gathering principal dancers from the world’s most prestigious ballet companies perform in Bahrain – ‘Star Gala’.

During this marvelous ballet night, first dancers from the world’s most prestigious ballet companies will perform for the first time in the one-night-only Star Gala in the Kingdom of Bahrain. The star-studded cast will showcase their spellbinding charisma as they perform solos and pas de deux excerpts from classical and neoclassical ballet masterpieces such as Giselle, Don Quixote, Raymonda, The Dying Swan, Don Juan among others, as well as works by some of the world’s most exciting and innovative choreographers.
