Between Manama & Muharraq, Different cultural experiences through multiple exhibitions by Bahrain Culture Authority

An art exhibition is traditionally the space in which art objects meet an audience,  a performance, interactive art, new media art or sculptures by individual artists, making mmuseums an  increasingly creating interactive exhibits as a way to increase audience engagement, throughout the whole world. Bahrain Culture Authority, has, therefore been keen to enrich its annual program through hosting local and regional exhibitions for the public, rendering Bahrain a favorite cultural destination for worldwide visitors.

Indeed, this comes in a time Bahrain Culture Authority is planning to honor the historical achievements of  the Kingdom of Bahrain, in a year baptized as the“ Year of Celebrations 2019”, as reflected by hosting three exhibitions by  Bahrain National Museum; "Bahrain National Museum: A 30th Anniversary Retrospective", "Design Crossroads: The Jewellery of Saudi Arabia" and the "Golden Jubilee Celebration of Bahraini Diplomacy". Visitors can enjoy these wonders hosted by Bahrain National Museum, open from 10: 00 am-6:00 pm, except on Tuesdays.

 The exhibition, which will run until 20 April 2019, was inaugurated last December Under the High Patronage of H.H Shaikha Thajiba bint Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa. “Design Crossroads: The Jewellery of Saudi Arabia’, exhibits reveal the diversity of colours, patterns and forms and the myriad influences that animate local designs in Saudi Arabia, but also  is showcasing for the first time an array of traditional jewelry and jewelry representing the various regions of Saudi Arabia at the National Museum of Bahrain. As to "50 Years of Diplomacy” exhibition , inaugurated Under the patronage of the Deputy Prime Minister, His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, in the presence of the Deputy Prime Minister, His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, it will continue until 3 May 2019. The exhibition celebrates for decades of bright Bahraini diplomacy, given that Bahrain’s long-standing history of foreign relations and diplomacy, conveys a unique approach towards nation building, which in many ways echoes the spirit of the country itself. Cultural tolerance, an accommodating nature and worldly awareness has long been part of Bahrain’s disposition and was key to facilitating international alliances, strengthening regional bonds and fostering the rich cultural framework that is still prevalent today.

“Bahrain National Museum: A 30th Anniversary Retrospective “exhibition, held under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Isa bin Salman Educational Fund, commemorating Bahrain National Museum’s 30th anniversary,  will run until 15 May 2019. Indeed, Marking the 30th anniversary of the National Museum, the exhibition traces the trajectory of the Bahrain National Museum and highlights major milestones. Over the course of its eventful history, the museum has continuously redefined itself to meet its mission and to remain relevant to its audiences. In the last three decades, the National Museum has been a vibrant centre for the preservation and promotion of Bahrain’s heritage, art and culture.

Four years after the inscription of the “Pearling, Testimony of an Island Economy” site on the UNESCO World Heritage List, the exhibition titled “ Pearling Path: Vision and Action Building” will showcase the built vision for the site through architectural models, images, studies and mock-ups of the different components of the project. The exhibition is open for visitors from Saturday until Thursday ( except on Wednesdays) on a daily basis starting from 10:00 am-6:00pm, while on Fridays it is open from 3:00pm-7:00pm.      From the conservation aspects to the new architectural interventions, the exhibition gives an in depth overview of this unique project that aims to spearhead the rehabilitation of the Old City of Muharraq along 3 km path.
