H.E Shaikha Mai Participates in “ The  2nd  Belt and Road Forum” in China, Concerted efforts to enhance cultural achievements

H.E Shaikha Mai Bint Mohammad Al-Khalifa, President of Bahrain’s Authority for Culture & Antiquities has taken part in 2nd Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation in Beijing, capital of China, on 26 April 2019. At least 37 heads of state or government and many delegates, including officials, academics, entrepreneurs, representatives of financial institutions and media organizations from 130 nations, as well as representatives from more than seventy international organizations, attended high-level meetings at the forum. Chinese President Xi Jinping opened and chaired the 2nd Belt and Road Forum, shedding lights on efforts to create fresh energy for pursuing interconnected development and make the Belt and Road Initiative deliver greater benefits to the people of all countries.  The debate also stressed the importance of the joint building of the Belt and Road is one of the greatest initiatives for economic cooperation in today’s world, and expressed willingness to align their respective countries’ development strategies with the initiative.

Commenting on 2nd Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation, H.E Shaikha Mai said “ We are participate for the second time in this important international meeting, given the significant messages it conveys, with regard to calls to intensify the international efforts in order to achieve fruitful worthy cultural achievements” H.E added “ We work closely with our Chinese counterparts to implement may mutual projects, and we are pride to be honored as the  Kingdom of Bahrain will have its special pavilion space in China, which is the first to be devoted to an Arab country”. H.E also pointed out to Bahrain’s presence on world stage cultural events, which reflects “ an International recognition and appreciation of Bahrain’s rich historical heritage and exceptional achievements made during the years, placing the Kingdom of Bahrain among the leading world  countries with regard to culture and heritage”. 

On the sidelines of the forum, H.E Shaikha Mai Bint Mohammad Al-Khalifa met with   Mr. Luo Jialun,  Chinese Minister of Education, whereby both parties discussed many important topics, and plans to enhance different cultural cooperation projects.

 Worth to mention that the  President of Bahrain’s Authority for Culture & Antiquities attended the First Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation in Beijing, capital of China, in May 2017, 4th  Arab Art Festival, Chengdu, China in October 2018, when she signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the then Chinese Minister of Culture and Tourism for mutual cultural cooperation implementation.
