Supported and sponsored by Bahrain's Labor Fund Tamkeen the 10th h edition of Ta’a al Shabab’ Festival kicked off on  Saturday, 12 February 2019 at Bab al Bahrain , under the slogan (Tashyeed ( Erect),  Takhleed ( Commemorate)  Tajdeed ( Renovate) at 8:00 pm. The event was attended by H.E Shaikha Mai Bint Mohammad Al Khalifa, President of  Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities, diplomats, culture lovers, intellectuals, young people and journalists.

 This year’s 10th edition coincides with BACA’s “Year of Celebrations 2019”, introducing a number of principal events that shaped the Kingdom of Bahrain's Modern history, throughout a number of remarkable cultural, economic and social  achievements, as well as Bahrain’s Culture Authority’s celebrating the  70th anniversary of Bab al Bahrain’s construction.

Speaking H.E Shaikha Mai Bint Mohammad Al-Khalifa stressed the importance of youth’s role and involvement in the Bahraini cultural scene’s development, saying “ we will continue, as we did throughout these last 10 years, to carry out our efforts aimed at meeting up the aspirations and dreams of youth population in Bahrain so that they become integrated as part and parcel of our cultural system”. H.E also expressed thabks and gratitude to all sponsors and supporters of this 10th edition of Ta’a al Shabab’ Festival, especially  Tamkeen fund for renewing its full support of this initiative.

H.E also pointed out that “ Bahrain’s Culture Authority’s events for this year will shed lights on most important jubilees in Bahraini modern history, and the 10th edition of Ta’a al Shabab’ Festival is one to be added to the pride list, given BACA’s keenness to involve the youth, the bright future of culture and Bahrain, in its continuous and sustainable activities”. 
   
H.E expressed her sincere thanks and appreciation to all festival’s young volunteers who will enrich February’s program of events, at end of which BACA will celebrate the National Action Charter, in a year devoted to commemorate Bahrain’s greatest historical,  cultural, economic and political achievements under the slogan “Year of Celebrations 2019”.
 Dr. Elie Flouty, the President of the festival’s Organizing Committee lauded, in his intervention, the huge support from H.E Shaikha Mai Bint Mohammad Al Khalifa, President of  Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities for the festival since its inception in 2009. Dr Flouty also praised the constant keenness of Tamkeen fund to make this event a bright success, commending the importance of youth’s commitment to culture scene development and its gigantic energy, which should be a leading force for any initiatives. Dr. Elie Flouty  also expressed his hope that youth participation activism, given that most events will center around Manama, and learn about public art as way of expressing identity and forming youth culture and promote it as tool for improving youth participation in Bahraini’s culture future. 

 Ta’a al Shabab’ Festival edition this year, which will run for  two consecutive weeks, includes Seven initiatives; namely“ We all Read”, which aims at raising awareness about the importance of reading, “Darayesh” initiative which reflects the cultural architecture mechanisms, “Tashkeel” initiative highlights edition the  importance of visual and plastic arts. “Technique “initiative embraces technology latest developments and increasing changing nature of it, while “ Harmony” initiative focusses  on how to develop the culture of refined music gifts among youth and society  and uplift the local cultural scene. “Adwar” initiative is concerned with theatre arts,  while “ Premiere” concentrates on the 7th art and all cinema affairs.  
 
The opening ceremony of  the 10th edition of Ta’a al Shabab’ Festival started with a music concert performed by both “ Harmony and Adwar” initiatives’ youth, titled “ we will tell a story’. The music art show shed lights on Ta’a la Shaba’s history since its first beginnings until the present edition, reflecting its positive impact on every volunteer taking part in throughout these ten years. The scenario, manuscript  and idea of the music concert show were creatively drafted by talented journalist, Khalid al Shaer, the music distribution and writing by Mohammad al Hassan, while the show was directed by theater artist, Fahad Zainal, co-directed by Hassan Ajaji. The music concert show leading role character was played by  renowned artist, Jomaan al  Ruwai. Artist Hind, Mohammad Rabea, Journalist Ali Duah and Ismael Dawwas Music Band also contributed to the success of this theatrical performance.       

It is worth mentioning that "Ta'a Al Shabab", is a cultural project that was founded by the late Mohammed Al-Banki, who believed and adopted new creative young dynamic cultural activities and events merging and mixing cultural, literary and artistic  projects together under one umbrella, that is “ Ta’a la Shabab” . Later these projects were carried out  and materialized by Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities, led by  H.E Shaikha Mai Bint Mohammad Al Khalifa.
 
 This year’s edition of Ta’a al Shabab festival  will run until 16 February.  The festival organizing committee invites everyone to participate in the different activities and events,  except participation in the workshops, which requires a previous registration via the festival web site.
