Former President of Bosnia and Herzegovina Visits Bahrain National Museum

 

Former President of Bosnia and Herzegovina, His Excellency Haris Silajdžić made a visit to Bahrain National Museum on 18 November 2019. This visit came on sideelines of His Excellency’s participation in  the conference on “The Role of Education in Promoting the Values of Tolerance in the Kingdom of Bahrain Throughout History”. H.E Shaikha Hala Bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, Director General of the Culture and Arts Directorate, Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities welcomed His Excellency Haris Silajdžić, Former President of Bosnia and Herzegovina and his accompanying delegation.

 His Excellency Haris Silajdžić, Former President of Bosnia and Herzegovina, was tour- guided and briefed on the role played by Bahrain National Museum to enhance the cultural scene and movement and how it is considered as a crucial tool to preserve Bahrain’s history and heritage, dating back to more than 6,000 years ago. 

The delegation lauded BACA’s efforts to enhance and promote cultural awareness through the National Museum’s activities and its acquisitions hosted the different sections of the museum, which includes three halls devoted to archaeology and  the Ancient civilization of the Dilmun, while two other halls depict Bahrain's culture, Customs and Traditions Hall, lifestyle and handicrafts.   The delegation also toured the Arts Exhibitions Hall, currently  showcasing “Beyond Silence” exhibition by  Sudanese artist, Dr Rashid Diab.

His Excellency Haris Silajdžić, Former President of Bosnia and Herzegovina accompanied by BACA’s  delegation, then, visited Bahrain National Theater where His Excellency was briefed on its array of events and activities, hosting major international show music, ballet and opera concerts and stars of renowned reputation, as well as great cultural events. Former President of Bosnia and Herzegovina, while on tour,  also praised Bahrain’s National Theater’s design and its urban characteristics, which are a combination of modern and traditional architectural elements.
