Bahrain Fort Site Museum Hosts, PESTO MORTAR, World Contest Championship for the first time in the Middle East

 

The Embassy of Italy, in cooperation with the Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities (BACA), and Palatifini Cultural Association and Genoa Municipality, in the framework of the 2019 World Week of Italian Cuisine,  is pleased to present the Mortar Pesto World Championship Contest, for the first time in the Middle East. The event will take place on Saturday 30th November at Darseen Café, Bahrain Fort Museum, Seef, from 4.30 pm onwards, with free admission.

Indeed, 10 challengers, selected amongst the students of the Bahrain Institute for Hospitality and Retail and UNIDO supported young chefs, will compete to create the best traditional and authentic Pesto sauce using the typical ingredients (basil, olive oil, parmesan, pine nuts) and the traditional marble mortar. A tasting will follow, for pesto and other tasty Italian products that will be showcased, accompanied by live music.
