Bahrain National Museum Hosts The “Dolls of Japan” Exhibition

Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities, in cooperation with the  Embassy of Japan in the Kingdom of Bahrain,  inaugurates the “ Dolls of Japan” exhibition at Bahrain National Museum, at 7:30 pm.

This exhibition, which will run until 13 November 2019, reveals an important aspect of the Japanese culture, given that Japan,  known as the “Kingdom of Dolls”, enjoys a rich culture of dolls. Each doll has its own distinct meaning and purpose, and is deeply connected to daily life.

Admirers of this art will be dazzled by the diversity and meticulous beauty of a selection of the most exquisite ensemble of Japanese dolls including traditional performing arts, regional dolls and creative dolls.

The exhibition also sheds light on  this traditional appreciation for dolls , which has resulted in the belief that dolls are not only children’s toys but also works of art to be displayed and admired and resulted in creating unlimited styles of Dolls.

The tradition of dolls making continues today as craftsmen using time-honored methods to create traditional Japanese dolls in addition to many artists who create decorative dolls.
