The Cultural Hall’s French Ensemble “Contraste” Concert, Bahrain International Music Festival

The Cultural Hall hosted a very fully appreciated loving concert, titled “ Musicals from Paris to Broadway”  by the French Ensemble Contraste, on 22 October 2019, in the presence of the French Ambassador, His Excellency M. Jérôme Cauchard. The concert is part of  the 28th edition of Bahrain International Music Festival,  organized in cooperation with the in cooperation with the French Embassy to the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The French Ensemble, known for their diversity and spontaneity, for incorporating classical, tango, musical comedy, jazz, contemporary compositions and more into their performances, presented  a variety of musical genres including classical, tango, musical comedy, jazz, and more in a thrilling musical evening.

Since its creation in 2000, the Esemble Contraste has been invited to all the great theatres in France and abroad in more than twenty countries, as well as they are the resident ensemble of the Voix du Printemps festival in Paris. The Ensemble Contraste alongside the mezzo-soprano famous and a combination of guest musicians recorded their “Songs” project dedicate to musical theatre. Following their directors’ approach, Johan Farjot and Arnaud Thorette, the ensemble decided to reinvent classical concerts by making the audience central to their approach, which turned their concerts into full on theatrical performances.

The Ensemble Contaste uses four instruments in its surprisingly experimental musical amalgamations; piano, violin, viola and cello. Following the approach of its founders - altist Arnaud Thorette and pianist Johan Farjot - the Ensemble Contraste places the audience at the heart of its artistic creations, which results in spectacular concerts. These virtuoso musicians, among the most promising of their generation, are pushing the limits of classical music. a melting pot of new ideas and surprising experiments, the Ensemble Constraste has pursued the approach of Arnaud Thorette and Johan Farjot - by placing the audience at the heart of its artistic creations, it has produced spectacular events: classic tango, songs, Masques, la Belle et la Bête, aMeN, Saint-Germain-des-Près.

 Worth to mention that the acclaimed festival of Bahrain International Music Festival, which  will run until 26 October 2019, comes part of the Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities’ year-long celebrations, under the theme “Our Year of Celebrations”. The festival will highlight various musical genres ranging from orchestra, rock and pop, to the Kingdom’s very own traditional tunes. Bahrain Culture Authority would like to express its thanks to several embassies in the Kingdom that have a great contribution towards the festival success this year, such as the Embassy of France and the Embassy of Germany.
