Celebrating the 7th Anniversary of Bahrain National Theater, Swan Lake Ballet Concert on 12 Nov 2019

Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities will celebrate the Bahrain National Theatre’s opening 7th anniversary, on 12 November 2019, when prominent dancers from the world-known Perm Opera and Ballet Theatre will be performing the revolutionary ballet piece Swan Lake in a frontline gala at 7:00pm. The unique ballet show organzaing committee has announced recently that  concert’s tickets are now available at  Virgin Megastore at Bahrain City Centre or via e-email at : http://www.virginmegastore.me.

Bahrain National Theater, which  is considered the crowning achievement in the Kingdom’s longstanding efforts to enrich and develop local culture for many decades as evidenced by a history full of achievements, was inaugurated in November 2012 under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, May God Protect him, as part of an endeavoring “Invest in Culture” project initiated by H.E Shaikha Mai Bint Mohammad Al-Khalifa, President of Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities ten years ago. Since it official inauguration, Bahrain National Theater’s stage has hosted a number of  exceptional music concerts and unique  ballet shows from all over the world.

It is generally believed that the libretto of Swan Lake – a story about princess Odette who is turned into a swan by Von Rothbart the evil sorcerer – is based partly on Russian folk tales and partly on a novel by Johann Karl August Musäus, the author of the collection Volksmärchen der Deutschen (German Folk Tales). Either way, the narrative motif of the ballet is the eternal triumph of the true love that saves men’s soul. The version of Swan Lake by the Perm Opera and Ballet Theatre retains all of the key features of the classical, academic choreography created by M. Petipa and L. Ivanov, and saves all emblematic dances like a series of different national dances, however it reinterprets the story.

The original Swan Lake ballet was written in 1876 and soon became one of the most famous ballets of the world and the real gem of the Russian ballet school. The masterpiece, created by M. Petipa and L. Ivanov, accompanied by some of the most beautiful music ever written for ballet by P. Tchaikovsky, has won millions of hearts. Swan Lake is known to be one of the most unique and outstanding performances that can’t be compared to any other existent ballet performances.
