Lecture on the Translation of Arabic Literature Into Albanian language, At Bahrain National Museum
Bahrain’s Authority for Culture & Antiquities , in cooperation with Bahrain Writers Circle, organizes on 22 September 2019, at 8:00 pm, a lecture on the “ Translation of Arabic Literature into Albanian Language” by Dr. Isa Memishi, teacher of Arabic language, at Bahrain National Museum.
There is no doubt that, within the Ottoman Empire all Muslims—whether Turks or Albanians, Arabs or Slavs—belonged to the Muslim millet, and their language, geographic origin and ethnicity were secondary. Indeed, The most intensive period of Turkish influence on Balkan languages in general, and on Albanian in particular has been the period of Ottoman Empire reign, which lasted almost five centuries. Albanians who were scattered around many countries in the Arab world ( Egypt and Syria) were interested in the translation movement. However, the first significant move was only taken in the 20th century with the publication of the first official adopted translation of “ One Thousand and One Nights” in 1924. In addition, with the establishment of the Institute for Oriental Studies at the University of Pristina, many publications and selected studies were produced, including almost 100 literary figures and writers, from Imru' al-Qais bin Hujr al-Kindi to Mustafa Khalifa.
