Director General of Culture and Arts Visits Private Heritage and Artifacts Collectors

 

Her Excellency Shaikha Hala bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, Director General of Culture and Arts at the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities, visited a number of heritage and historical collection holders in the city of Muharraq on 7 December 2020, accompanied by His Excellency Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Director of Antiquities and Museums Department, and artist Khalid Al-Ruwaie. H.E and her companions agreed that    owners of the heritage collections are passionate collectors of fine art & antiques that reflect an important part of Bahrain's tangible heritage and their aim had been to restore the splendor of historical estates. Some of these rare pieces and collections date back to more than a hundred years.
 
During the visit, Her Excellency Shaikha Hala bint Mohammed Al Khalifa expressed her deep pride in the patriotism of these private owners of these heritage and historical acquisitions and collections. This is reflected in their keenness to preserve all the elements of popular memory and documents the methods of the daily lives of the residents of Muharraq, a city so diversified and endowed with rich and sweet historical and urban landscape details with regard to tangible heritage elements. H.E asserted that these cultural, pragmatic and practical collections have been and will be always be an integral part of the traditional and popular identity in the Kingdom of Bahrain. In addition, the Director General of Culture and Arts discussed with these owners of the heritage collections ways and means to enhance Bahrain’s cultural heritage promotion, safeguard and preservation, given that it is a living heritage treasure that reflects the Bahraini memory’s elements of social and heritage connotations of historical value.
