H.E Shaikha Hala Bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, Director General of Culture and Arts at the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities was bestowed with the honour of the Italian Republic "Order of the Star of Italy” on 13 December 2020, in recognition of her efforts to enhance relations between the two countries. The medal distinction, which qualifies as a second civilian honor of the State, “The Ordine Della Stella d'Italia ", was awarded by Her Excellency the Italian Ambassador in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Mrs. Paula Amadi, during a ceremony held at the Bahrain National Museum.

H.E Shaikha Hala Bint Mohammed Al Khalifa said: “I am truly honoured to receive such esteemed recognition from the Republic of Italy’s ambassador,   and I am proud to have been able to contribute to both Italy and Bahrain’s strong and deep. It translates the constructive strong ties and historical friendship bonds between our two peoples.” H.E Shaikha Hala expressed her sincere thanks to the Her Excellency Ambassador Amadi for her constant readiness to boost cooperation and her keenness to enhance the process of cultural exchange between the two friendly countries.

In addition, H.E Shaikha Hala Bint Mohammed Al Khalifa pointed out that that there are many cultural exchange programs and plans underway  between the Kingdom of Bahrain and Italy, such as the first regional solo exhibition for the celebrated Italian artist Ezio Girbaudo hosted by  Bahrain National Museum now. The Director General of Culture & Arts also asserted that relentless efforts are being deployed to foster and push forward with exceptional pioneering future historical and cultural projects between both countries as per the agreements and cultural cooperation memorandums drafted and established during the recent years.

The Ambassador of the Republic of Italy, Her Excellency Mrs. Paula Amadi, for her part, said that the Italian Embassy was honored to award H.E Sheikha Hala the Order of the Star of Italy on this memorable day, stressing that H.E, the Director General of Culture and Arts has always maintained distinguished relations with the embassy and adhered to the refined prestigious Italian cultural principles. H.E Shaikha Hala deployed strenuous efforts to promote and introduce the Italian and Bahraini artists in both countries.

Her Excellency Mrs. Paula Amadi added saying that  that the cultural relations  between the two countries have flourished during the recent years, championing enlightened arts and culture,  mainly thanks to H.E’s  Sheikha Hala bint Mohammed Al Khalifa's passion, devoting her time and energy to serve best  culture and arts. The Italian ambassador also noted that Shaikha Hala’s efforts and exceptional hard work have no doubt contributed to cultural events and achievements, playing an important role in bringing people and civilizations closer together.

It is worth mentioning that  the“The  Ordine Della Stella d'Italia ",  (Medal of the Star of Italy") is one of the finest Italian honors and is awarded by the President of the Republic. This distinction, which qualifies as a second civilian honor of the State, represents a particular honor on behalf of all those, Italians abroad or foreigners, who have acquired special merit in the promotion of friendly relations and cooperation between Italy and other countries and the promotion of ties with Italy.
